The Mysterious Benedict Society doesn’t come apart any time soon. Disney+ has renewed the Tony Hale-led adaptation for season 2, TVLine has learned.
Based on Trenton Lee Stewart’s best-selling book series, the live-action series follows four gifted orphans – Reynie (Mystic Inscho), Sticky (Seth Carr), Kate (Emmy DeOliveira), and Constance (Marta Kessler) – who are “recruited by the eccentric Benedict on a perilous mission to save the world from a global crisis known as The Emergency,” according to the official logline. Together, they must “infiltrate the mysterious LIVE Institute to uncover the truth behind the crisis. When the school principal , the sophisticated Dr. Curtain, appears to be behind this global panic, the children of the Mysterious Benedict Society must devise a plan to defeat him.”

Hale, a two-time Emmy winner for HBOs Veep, shines as both the eccentric Mr. Benedict and his twin brother, the nefarious Dr. curtain. Kristen Schaal (Bob’s Burgers, the last man on earth), Ryan Hurst (Sons of Lawlessness), Maame Yaa Boafo (Frame) and Gia Sandhu (A simple favor) round off the whole thing.
“This show was an absolute thrill to work on,” Hale said in a statement. “I am so grateful to the fans and Disney for the opportunity to continue to tell this incredible story.”
MBS marks Hale’s last foray into children’s television. In addition to making Peacock’s Archibald’s next big thing is here!, the Arrested Development alum currently voices Chas Finster on Paramount+’s backgrats Restart.
